'Massive drone attack' on Russian fleet in Black Sea

Ukraine launched a major drone attack on the Russian fleet off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea. Russia has claimed that 9 drones were used in the attack.

According to AFP news, the attack was carried out at Sevastopol port in Crimea on Saturday morning. A ship of the Black Sea fleet was damaged in this. Russia has accused the UK of helping Ukraine in the attack.

Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. However, after the start of Russian military operations in Ukraine, Ukraine has attacked this region several times. The region became important in the ongoing war. Because, Russian forces are using the land of Crimea to keep equipment in the operation in Ukraine.

After the drone attack on the fleet, Moscow says that British experts were involved in the attack. They are located in the southern part of Ukraine in the city of Ochakiv. They have trained the Ukrainian forces to carry out this attack. However, Moscow has not presented any evidence in favor of this. Apart from that, nothing was said about the attack by Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the British government has denied being involved in the attack. According to the British Ministry of Defense, this claim of Moscow is false.

Ukraine's grain exports were halted after the start of the war. Later, the UN-brokered Black Sea Grain Initiative agreement was signed between Ukraine and Russia to start exports. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for the extension of the agreement.

After the agreement, Ukraine exported 8 million tons of grain. After the resumption of exports, the prices of foodgrains in the world market also decreased. In this context, a spokesperson of the Secretary General said, Guterres emphasized on the extension of the agreement to ensure food security around the world.

However, Russia is talking about withdrawing from this agreement. A related document has also been submitted to the United Nations on behalf of the country. Then last Wednesday, the Russian ambassador appointed to the United Nations said that they are unable to export grain and fertilizer. When these exports start, there will be discussions about extending the contract period.

The UN Secretary General has taken Russia's claim into consideration. He urged not to create barriers to Russia's grain and fertilizer exports.

But after today's attack, Russia said all the ships attacked were involved in grain exports under the agreement. They are no longer in this agreement.
